Job Training
Preparation for Work
Akron Public Schools' job training programs are designed to offer up-to-date job knowledge and skills for high school students. These programs provide 150-190 minutes of daily instruction during the junior and senior years. Business Advisory Committees provide the guidance and technical support needed to make sure programs are providing instruction that is current with the needs of the work place. Most programs offer internship opportunities for students to learn some skills at future places of employment. Advanced students will have opportunities for early job placement before graduation. Although job training programs are designed for 11th and 12th grade students, there are a limited number of openings for underclassmen who are at least 16 years old and meet the qualifications for program admission.
